TeamKid/Awana Missions Supplement

The Missions Support Team wants to thank you in advance for your interest in "missions educating" the children attending your church.  Your efforts to add a Southern Baptist missions component to your children's education ministry will yield eternal results: the children you are reaching will learn why and how to reach others themselves and how to partner with others to obey the Great Commission.

You can use these resources to add mission education to your TeamKid or Awana ministry:

Printed Curriculum
Child-Oriented Missions Videos
Child-Oriented Missions Websites

"DIME"- Drop In Missions Education
Awana Handbook Missions Supplement

Printed Curriculum

It is very easy to customize missions education curriculum designed for use by ongoing missions education organizations.  It is simply a matter of editing the leader's lessons plans to fit your goals and time constraints.  These materials will also give you plenty of ideas you can use to involve children in ministry outside the walls of the church.

supplementprinted.gifFor example, WMU's coeducational organization for children in grades 1-6,  Children In Action, offers curriculum called Missions MatchFile which can easily be adapted for council time use. In addition, MissionKids curriculum is available from the North American Mission Board.

You can also use gender specific materials in a coeducational setting.  Girls in Action (GA) materials by WMU and Royal Ambassadors (RA) materials by the North American Mission Board are used in many situations for both genders and work very well.

Child Oriented Missions Videos

Videos are great additions to your training inventory!  Involving children's eyes and ears helps them learn.

The Kids on Mission video series by the International Mission Board.

dvd-kom06wi.jpgThe Kids on Mission video series teaches children about the world and God’s plan for it. With help from Mr. Christopher, Penny and Surfer Bob, children explore ways they can be Kids on Mission in their communities and beyond.

Child-Oriented Missions Websites

KidsOnMission.org  This International Mission Board sponsored interactive site even has video (with choices for low, medium and high bandwidth video delivery).  supplementmouse.jpgIf you don't have an internet hookup in the church, you can give kids "assignments" and have them report the next week.  This is a wonderful tool to help children explore missions around the world.

KidzPlace.org  This North American Mission Board site has ministry ideas, devotions, games ideas and more.  Also, see the "flash" gospel presentation "Show and Tell" and download it for your use independent of the internet.

KOMpray Website  Parents, Grandparents and Children's Leaders! KOMpray: Kids on Mission Pray is a new prayer resource that offers prayer requests about children—children around the world who are just learning about Jesus and Missionary Kids (MKs) who share His love along with their parents. The goal is to encourage children of all ages to pray and trust God to answer!  Sign up for weekly emails!
