Cubbies Jumper Celebration Handbook (Preschool)...

Cubbie Jumper Handbook: Pages 108-109  Missions Emphasis

Cubbie leaders can help parents with the assignment given on page 109: "Work with your child to learn about another country.  You could look at pictures about other countries, read a story about a child in the country and even make food from that country.  If possible, choose a country that has Awana or a country where you know a missionary.  Ask your Cubbie leaders for suggestions."

Suggestions:  Find out if your church has adopted a Southern Baptist International Mission Board missionary.  If so, your pastor and missions leaders can  help you with information about your adopted missionaries, their country and more.  You may want to lead your AWANA club to adopt an International Mission Board missionary.  For more information, go to the International Mission Board website.

Consider adopting these Arkansans that serve as International Mission Board missionaries:

Rusty and Lori Hart, Russia
Mike and Linda Ray, Ukraine

Other resources:

The International Missions Emphasis website always profiles a particular country.  Many countries are profiled at the Kids On Mission website.

The Commission Magazine Online is a great source of pictures and information on SBC International missionaries and the countries they serve in.

Also, using an Internet search engine, you can easily find pictures of food, people, the flag and more concerning the country you choose.  Print the pictures and make a poster or collage featuring the missionary and these other items.

Cubbies Hopper Celebration Handbook (Preschool)

The assignment reads: "Does your family know any missionaries?  If so, tell your child what they do and where they live.  If you do not know any, you can share with your child that missionaries do all kinds of jobs: teach school, work on computers, fly airplanes, do radio programs, help people get better when they're sick, etc."

Suggestions:  If your church has adopted a missionary or has close ties with a particular missionary, you can give that information to the child.  If not:

Suggetions: If your church has adopted a missionary or has close ties with a particular missionary, you can give that information to the child.  If not:

Book 1: Page 40

The child is told, "Although the Bible has been printed in many languages, the message is the same all over the world.  Find out how to say John 3:16 in another language.  You can do this by asking someone who speaks another language to help you.  Or you can write to a missionary.  Learn how to say the verse in another language."

Suggestions:  In addition to the ideas given, see BibleGateway.com, which  has the Bible in many languages.  Several have searchable texts (see the key near the top).  Click on the language, choose search, and type into the "Passage Lookup" box the English reference: in this case John 3:16.  You will receive John 3:16 in that foreign language. For example, here it is in Croatian:

16Bog je toliko volio svijet da je dao svojega jedinorodenog Sina da nijedan koji u njega vjeruje ne pogine, nego da ima vjecni život.

Book 1:Pages 140-141
