Collegiate Church Planting Roundtables

The picture to the right is of Steven Bell, pastor and planter of Otter Creek Community Church in Little Rock, sharing his church planting story with a group of Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State students on September 21 at a Church Planting Roundtable.

This is one of just many roundtables that are taking place around the state this fall. Roundtables have already been held at Williams Baptist College and the University of Arkansas with plans for events at Arkansas Tech and UA Fort Smith. The goal of these roundtables is to raise awareness of what God is doing in Arkansas with church planting. The event also allows students to engage with planters from around the state and ask questions.

Many planters are using these roundtables to find college students to serve as interns during the summers. The hope is that by exposing students to church planting now they will develop a passion for it and pursue involvment in planting down the road. For some that means being a part of a launch team, joining a church plant as members of the congregation, or even planting a church themselves.

For the last couple of years, these events have been a great way to start the conversation with not just college students but churches and associations as well. If your group, church, or association is interested in hosting a roundtable please contact the Church Planting Team at churchplanting@absc.org. Please continue to pray that God would use these roundtables to raise up planters and spark new works in Arkansas.
