Training Overview
The six steps to becoming a fully certified CWJC/CMJC Site Coordinator:

  • Complete the National Certification Training for Site Coordinators Level 1 before beginning your CWJC/CMJC site
  • Register your site with the national office
  • Keep your national certification current by completing suggested professional development annually
  • Pray for CWJC/CMJC using the prayer plan
  • Certify your site with the national office, including completing the ministry plan
  • Complete the National Certification Training for Site Coordinators Level 2 within two years of completing Level 1

National Certification Training Level 1 (3 ½ days)
The Level 1 training equips prospective site coordinators to plan, develop, operate, and evaluate a Christian Women's Job Corps/Christian Men's Job Corps ministry. This training is the beginning point of a CWJC/CMJC leader's journey.

As a result of completing this training, individuals will be able to:
1. Articulate the Biblical basis for the CWJC/CMJC model
2. List and explain the key elements of a CWJC/CMJC ministry
3. Identify the steps to create and run a CWJC/CMJC ministry site
4. Articulate the purpose and skills necessary for a mentoring relationship in a poverty context
5. Complete a ministry plan for organizing, operating, and evaluating a CWJC/CMJC ministry

Once site coordinators are prepared to develop a site, the site will need to be registered. To complete the National Registered Site Application, click here.
When a registered site is through the development stage (we recommend approximately two years for this) and is prepared to serve participants and recruit volunteers, the site will need to certify. To complete a National Certified Site Application, click here.

National Certification Training Level 2 (3 ½ days)
The goal of Level 2 training is to better equip an active CWJC/CMJC site coordinator to operate and evaluate a ministry site through a more in-depth exploration of key leadership and organizational issues. Attendance at NCT Level 2 is open to those individuals with at least 12 months of involvement in a CWJC/CMJC site since the completion of Level 1.

As a result of completing this training, individuals will be able to:
1. Strengthen leadership skills
2. Address primary concerns from their sites
3. More consistently implement the key elements
4. Develop a better understanding of organizational principles that affect a ministry site
5. Revise the ministry plans for their sites
6. Exchange ideas with other site coordinators
7. Meet individually with a trainer

While You Wait for National Certification Training
for Site Coordinators

When you feel called to train, organize, implement, and evaluate a CWJC/CMJC ministry to meet the needs of women/men in your community, you want to be trained now! Admittedly there can be frustration in waiting. Here are some suggestions of ways to "jump in" and familiarize yourself with the ministry before your training date.

  • Complete all prerequisites for the training you have registered for.
  • Watch "It's a Family Thing," available for free from the national CWJC/CMJC office. Invite others to view it with you and pray together for a vision for CWJC/CMJC in your community.
  • Volunteer at an established site near you. Or if you live in an area where there is no site, volunteer with an existing community agency that serves the same population group you are thinking of for a CWJC/CMJC site.
  • Enlist a team of persons who will pray for you as you prepare to lead a new CWJC/CMJC ministry.
  • Find out all you can about your prospective population group (i.e., learn about local poverty statistics, women coming out of prisons, or in the adult entertainment industry). You can conduct research on the Internet; through books, magazines, or journals; and/or by interviewing people locally.
  • Discover your spiritual gifts.
  • Attend seminars or classes, and/or read books or articles on leadership skills. Know that you are going to continuously be developing yours.
  • Use the CWJC/CMJC prayer plan daily.
  • Tour several CWJC/CMJC ministry sites to learn how important it is to design your ministry to meet the needs of women/men and your community.
  • Prayerwalk or prayer drive the community your CWJC/CMJC ministry will serve.
  • Have your state CWJC/CMJC coordinator or a state WMU representative come to your church or association to make a presentation on CWJC/CMJC.
  • Contact your pastor; church, association, and state WMU to let them know of your plans and gain their prayer support.
  • Secure a copy of any community resources directories that may have been published for your county or community. Familiarize yourself with agencies offering life skills and job readiness programs.
  • Survey churches (not just Baptist) in your community to find out about local on-going ministry projects.
  • Contact a site of your choice and commit to pray for that particular ministry on a daily basis.
  • Interview several site coordinators.
  • Visit the CWJC/CMJC Web site monthly to learn about important updates in the ministry.
