The 2019 Annual Meeting of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention is fast approaching (make sure you register). We hope you’ll join us, but maybe you’re new to the Annual Meeting and you don’t know what to expect? Well, read on for more info on five of the greatest parts of the Annual Meeting so you can start getting excited for what is sure to be an incredible time.
1. World Class Preaching
This year’s Annual Meeting will feature preaching from some of the best out there. You’ll hear messages from President-Elect of the Southern Baptist Convention Dr. Ronnie Floyd, Convention President Greg Sykes, Executive Director Dr. J.D. "Sonny" Tucker, and Pastor Jamar Andrews. These sermons are spread through the two-day schedule and they are sure to bring encouragement in your spiritual walk and inspiration for how you can be more involved in your church and community.

2. Impactful Worship
A big part of the Annual Meeting is worship. We welcome some of the best worship leaders from around our state to stir our hearts to fall more in love with our heavenly Father. Worship will be led at different times this year by Robert Ramsey of First Baptist Church Russellville, Jon Skelley of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church and the Ouachita Baptist University worship team. Make sure not to miss the Tuesday evening service; it is a worship-focused event and a highlight each year. The fantastic Master’Singers come to lead Arkansans from all over to praise His name.

3. Meaningful Fellowship
Aside from the primary meeting area, lots of other events happen around the Annual Meeting, including meals and times of fellowship. For instance, Mid-America, New Orleans, and Southwestern Seminaries are each holding alumni luncheons on Tuesday at lunchtime. There are also separate dinners Tuesday night for student pastors, children’s workers, and folks involved in women’s ministry. If you are someone who works with internationals (or would like to start doing so), there’s a special Reaching Internationals in Arkansas lunch on Tuesday as well, plus Disaster Relief is hosting a free lunch for everyone on Tuesday. There are plenty of chances at the Annual Meeting to connect with other Arkansas Baptists and fellowship over a meal.

4. Ministry Connections
There is also no shortage of educational opportunities at the Annual Meeting. If there’s a ministry happening in Arkansas, there’s someone at the Annual Meeting who can fill you in on the latest news and events. If you’ve ever been curious about what certain ABSC teams do, they will each have a booth in the foyer so you can connect with the team and learn all the incredible things they’ve been working on.
There are also lots of chances to learn about specific ministries, like Disaster Relief (who is hosting lunch on Tuesday) and the ABSC Missions team who will have church planters at their booth all-conference-long so you can come and learn about what’s going on. There is also a Cooperative Program breakfast Wednesday morning to fill attendees in on the latest cooperative efforts by Arkansas Baptists. Plus, there will be a sample Block Party taking place outside the church so you can see what Block Party ministry is like, and you can partake in the party yourself!

5. Live podcast recordings
One of the most exciting ways Arkansas Baptists can stay connected and encouraged throughout the year is through our ABSC podcasts. And this year, for the first time, each of our three podcasts will be recording live episodes during the Annual Meeting in Sanders Hall! This is an exciting new feature of the Annual Meeting and our podcasts hosts can’t wait to do live shows and connect with listeners in person.
The Lead > Defend student podcast, The Grind church planting podcast, Inspire-on-the-Go women’s ministry podcast, plus our friends over at the Arkansas Baptist News podcast, will each take the stage a few times during the Annual Meeting in Sanders Hall. Don’t miss it!
** Bonus: Monday Night - The Link
If you are able to come the night before, there is a special annual event called The Link, that is designed to connect Arkansas Baptists with our partner entities around the state (plus there’s food!). The main focus of the evening will be a big celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the AR Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, but all of our partner entities will be present so you can connect with leadership and learn the latest goings-on. Our ministry partners include:
Don’t miss out on this special time of connection and celebration!
