Caring for Nebraska/Iowa Flood Victims

The massive floods experienced by Nebraskans and Iowans are some of the worst on record.

In March the Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists reached out to Arkansas Baptist State Convention Disaster Relief to request our help during this crisis. Our Incident/Management team has been working in Omaha for the past three and a half weeks. We have identified over 1,200 homes that have been affected by these floods.

Our disaster relief volunteers, along with those from other states and organizations, have worked tirelessly to assist the affected with the rebuild process.  We have been blessed with the opportunity to bring help, healing, and hope to the many survivors of this disaster, and are humbled to serve alongside such amazing people.

While the disastrous impact of this event has been felt heavily across the region, we rejoice at the opportunity to share the love of Christ with those who are suffering.  Sharing the gospel is the primary reason we go!   We have seen seventeen people come to saving faith over the last three and a half weeks.

You can help care for the folks in Nebraska / Iowa

  • Please pray that the individuals who have come to Christ will soon be able to connect to a church family and find support as they grow in faith.
  • Pray for future opportunities to minister to folks’ physical and spiritual needs
  • Pray about serving in the future as a Disaster Relief Volunteer.  Future training dates are here:
  • Support Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief efforts by giving through the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering
