What is the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering?
The Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering is a statewide giving initiative for Arkansas Baptist churches. Every dollar given directly supports mission efforts that impact lostness across our state. From disaster relief and community outreach to missions discipleship and more, this offering equips Arkansas Baptists to go, serve, and share the hope of Jesus with those who need Him most.

How are funds used to impact Arkansas?
Many Arkansas Baptist ministries receive funds from the offering. Below is a list of some of those ministries.*

Who is Dixie Jackson?
Dixie Farrior was born May 6, 1860, in Louisiana, to loving Christian parents during the Civil War period. She married James Green Jackson in 1878, making their home in Dardanelle where they attended First Baptist Church.
Asked how she came to possess her apparent in-depth biblical insight as a busy mom of eight, Dixie responded that she was adept at churning butter, rocking the cradle, and reading her Bible all at the same time.
After moving to Little Rock in 1904, Dixie served as chairwoman for the executive board of Arkansas Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU).
Dixie’s husband died in 1912, leaving her with two school-age youngsters.
In 1914, she was offered the position of executive director of WMU. Her greatest fulfillment came from traveling the state, training women, and spreading the message of Arkansas Baptist missions efforts. Her passion for missions led Dixie to ask the Arkansas WMU president to establish a week of prayer for Arkansas missions. First held in 1926, the effort was soon instituted as a yearly week of prayer.
An offering was later added to aid projects statewide. In 1935, six years after her death, the offering was named the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering.
STORIES OF IMPACT
MARTHA'S STORY
Martha Peacock is a member of First Baptist Church McGehee who felt inspired after her church took a mission trip to Honduras. Her church has been taking an annual medical mission trip since 1998, but it wasn't until recently that Martha and others from the team began to realize that the same type of work could be done here in Arkansas, too. After learning about the work done through the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Offering, Martha helped bring a medical + dental clinic to her hometown of McGehee. Her obedience to God's call led to a church-wide mission effort in her community that resulted in 21 professions of faith.
ETHAN'S STORY
As a student receiving a theological education at Cross Seminary, Ethan Taylor is also serving in a residency at the University of Arkansas Baptist Collegiate Ministry, where he is actively sharing the Gospel and discipling students. A relatively new believer, he has experienced significant growth and is faithfully engaging lostness on campus.
THE KNOWLTON'S STORY
For years, Ron and Carolyn Knowlton have deployed regularly together, serving primarily in chaplaincy roles during times of crisis. Through Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief, they help meet physical needs while also bringing the hope of the Gospel to those affected. Their story reflects how your giving supports both practical response and spiritual care in disaster situations. They have countless stories of impact from their years of ministry together as a part of the "yellow shirt family."
CHRIS' STORY
At a block party, Chris heard the Gospel but initially believed it was “too late” for him, recounting a difficult past. Through ongoing connection and faithful follow-up from Monette FBC, he went on to attend church gatherings, and in January 2026, he gave his life to Christ. Chris' story shows how your giving creates opportunities to reach the lost and supports churches as they seek to engage with the lost in their communities.
LUIS' STORY
After first connecting with Fort Smith BCM as a non-believer, Luis heard the Gospel, gave his life to Christ, and became involved in a local church. He later served part-time with Fort Smith BCM, reaching other students and growing as a leader, before surrendering to a call to ministry. Now serving on staff at a local church in Fort Smith, his story shows how your giving is multiplying Gospel impact in our state.
