There are no Southern Baptist African American gospel-centered churches in this area. There is a huge need for an African American church in Monticello. With over 8,000 people in population, the largest demographic is white at 52% with African Americans at almost 50%. This means that there are around 4,000 people who do not have anyone reaching them intentionally with the gospel. Since Monticello is also a college town with the University of Arkansas Monticello, this church plant could also be reaching college students. The church has a great opportunity to love these people and do outreach in this community among African Americans.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for a church planter to be raised up to plant this church.
  • Pray that God would use the believers already in Monticello and surrounding areas to reach their family, friends, and neighbors with the gospel.
  • Pray for the lost, church-hurt, and broken people in Monticello who need to be loved and that God would be preparing their hearts for the harvest.
  • Pray for the college students who need to hear about Jesus.

Partnership Opportunities:

  • Pray! Pray for these requests above, and pray how God would have you become more involved.
  • If you live in Monticello or nearby, be intentional with reaching African Americans you might know or see on a regular basis.
  • If you're interested in planting this church or being involved with this church plant, contact Willie below.
