Senior Adults
There are currently six generations living in our country today, and three of those generations can be classified as senior adults, and their numbers are increasing every year. Currently ten thousand baby boomers are retiring every day. Currently one out of every seven persons in the United States is over the age of sixty five, and will grow to one in five by 2030. Those entering this phase of life are breaking the mold and desiring a different type of ministry than previous generations. In fact, many of these “new old” refuse to be called “senior.”
Senior adult ministry is a challenge in today’s church, not only in reaching older adults with the gospel, but also providing ministry to them and for them. The Arkansas Baptist State Convention wants to come alongside Arkansas Baptist churches to provide strategies and resources to reach, teach and minister to these older generations.
