Each year the Communication Team from the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) takes part in the Baptist Communicators Association’s Wilmer C. Fields awards competition. In the 56th year of the competition, the team from the ABSC won awards in a wide array of categories. 

Baptist Communicators Association (BCA) is a nationwide group made up of Southern Baptist communication professionals from SBC agencies, state conventions, Baptist newspapers, and Baptist universities. Each year, this group gathers for a conference consisting of workshops and the annual awards ceremony. The award submissions are submitted early in the year and undergo a round of peer-reviewed judging from professionals in related fields. This year, the conference was postponed and the awards were announced virtually due to adjustments as a result of COVID-19. 

For the very first time, the team was a finalist for three grand prize awards in two different categories. Additionally, the team won 10 other awards including six in first place. Greg Addison, Associate Executive Director remarked, “I am very proud of our communications staff and grateful for their work engaging Arkansas Baptists in our cooperative mission work.” Addison continued, “BCA is very helpful because this process challenges us to strive for the best ways to do our work. The peer reviews help us learn, develop better platforms, and build a communication ministry that connects Arkansas Baptists together in the best way possible.”
